Daytona is a sophisticated private residence in Launceston, Tasmania, where advanced automation blends seamlessly with distinctive interior design. The challenge was to integrate lighting, motorised shades and curtains, heating, security, access and entertainment into one reliable, intuitive system, supported by a fast and robust network. The homeowners also placed particular emphasis on “hidden technology,” requiring devices and controls to integrate discreetly into the architecture. In the master bedroom, this meant concealing the television when not in use while keeping it effortless to operate. Visible interfaces also needed to complement the home’s black and red colour palette, balancing advanced functionality with a refined aesthetic.
To meet the project's demanding technical and aesthetic requirements, Advanced Residential Technologies selected Legrand's Vantage home automation platform as the central control solution that provides the flexibility needed to unify the home’s principal functions within one coordinated system. The Legrand system controls every light in the residence and manages 30 motorised shades and draperies, which close automatically at sunset, with those in the living areas opening at sunrise. Floor and under-tile heating are also integrated, combining scheduled operation with local control through keypads and Equinox interfaces. Fifteen compact motion sensors provide automatic lighting in hallways, bathrooms, entrances and the garage, creating convenient pathways while supporting the discreet technology concept. A personalised Welcome scene progressively illuminates the entrance pendants, eight individual stair LED strips, the hallway, and the kitchen and dining area to create an elegant arrival experience. In the master bedroom, the system controls an Ultralift motorised TV lift from either bedside Equinox EQ41. A single command lowers the television and switches it on, while another switches it off and returns it to its concealed position. Security and access functions are equally intuitive. The keypads control the garage door and front gates, while an Equinox EQ73 in the kitchen and dining area displays the front door camera. Black and bronze keypads with red LED engraving complete the installation, aligning the technology with the homeowners’ chosen aesthetic. By combining extensive integration capabilities with discreet sensors, elegant interfaces and personalised automation, Legrand's solution was ideally suited to the project’s technical and design requirements.
