Today, the HALO building is known as one of the most advanced environmentally-friendly office development spanning seven floors in Finzels Reach, central Bristol. To meet these ambitious goals, all suppliers were required to deliver exceptional results. Developer CMB Engineering identified lighting control as a key area for energy savings and entrusted Legrand, with whom they had a strong relationship, to realize this sustainable vision using the extensive CP Electronics product range.
The HALO building incorporates advanced environmental practices throughout its operations, earning its reputation as the UK's most sustainable office building. Designed to achieve the prestigious BREEAM Outstanding rating, a first in the UK, HALO showcases CMB Engineering's dedication to bespoke design and a client-centric approach, with a strong emphasis on sustainability. Legrand's expertise in managing lighting controls from the CP Electronics range and the building system was crucial in achieving the project's environmental objectives.
HALO, a dynamic multipurpose office space, hosts various businesses across its seven floors, each needing unique lighting solutions. From open-plan areas to private offices, the lighting strategy had to be adaptable and energy-efficient. Legrand, known for its comprehensive approach, was brought in to enhance energy savings, ensure safety, and promote wellness through efficient lighting. Creating a BREEAM-certified office involves prioritizing health and wellbeing. Legrand, in collaboration with RIDI Lighting, ensured HALO's environment supports a safe working atmosphere. Key to this effort were the CP Electronics presence detection sensors installed on stairwells, which optimize lighting by detecting movement and turning off lights when areas are unoccupied.
Glyn Luffman, PM at CMB Engineering, praised the CP Electronics products: “Having worked with CP Electronics products for many years, our team can easily set up most open office spaces with graduated dimming and occupancy sensors. The systems are very user-friendly, allowing us to control all lights across the building and stairwells via local scene control.”
Strong relationships are crucial in any project, and HALO was no exception. Legrand's decade-long partnership with CMB Engineering is built on prioritizing customer service. The bespoke offerings from both brands ensure the most relevant solutions for the end client. This collaborative approach was evident in the HALO project, where tailored solutions were crafted based on the developers' familiarity with each other. Legrand's team was deeply involved in the system design, providing onsite support to explain and adjust the setup as needed.
Luffman also highlighted: “Legrand’s commitment to producing the right solution for the project is why we love working with them. Their bespoke designs and tireless efforts to meet the client's needs are unmatched."
